Every three months, the KEEKollektief opens a new exhibition in their lunchroom on Twijnstraat. From 4 October 2024 till 9 January 2025, Krista’s solo exhibition, het Utrechte huis (the Utrecht house), will be on show.
The Nieuwegracht-series will be exhibited alongside the four-part series In het rijke huis (In the Rich House), still lifes and new work.
In Krista Wamsteker’s world, different painting techniques and subjects can coexist perfectly, resulting in diverse work, with her personal story and approach as a constant factor.
The house in Utrecht is not cleaned; the cleaning cloths must be painted using a more classic technique. Yellow chairs and vases wander around and are captured “alla prima” with a limited palette.
Outside on the Nieuwegracht, you can see a white table, the dog toilet and Debby.
Krista draws and paints from observation and memory, using clear forms, meticulous compositions and an idiosyncratic use of colour.
