September 2026 | Van Gogh Huis | Atelier Kosterswoning | Zundert

Naast de kosterswoning van het protestantse kerkje in Zundert, waar de vader van Vincent van Gogh dominee is geweest, is een modern gastatelier gebouwd.

Elke maand wordt het atelier en de kosterswoning beschikbaar gesteld aan een kunstenaar, uit binnen- of buitenland, die ‘in de voetsporen van Van Gogh’ treedt en daardoor geïnspireerd op deze locatie werk maakt.

Krista zal in september 2026 aan het werk gaan als artist-in-residence.

Van Gogh AiR wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt dankzij provincie Noord-Brabant, gemeente Breda, gemeente Zundert en maakt maakt deel uit van AIR Platform Brabant

September 2026 | Van Gogh House | Sexton’s house Atelier | Zundert

Next to the sexton’s house of the Protestant church in Zundert, where Vincent van Gogh’s father was a minister, a modern guest atelier has been built.

Every month, the atelier and the sexton’s house are made available to an artist, from the Netherlands or abroad, who follows in Van Gogh’s footsteps and creates work inspired by this location.

Krista will start working as an artist-in-residence in September 2026.

Van Gogh AiR is made possible thanks to the Province of North Brabant, the Municipality of Breda, and the Municipality of Zundert, and is part of AIR Platform Brabant.

For the third time, the Figs artists’ collective presents contemporary figurative art at kunstRUIM.

The festive opening will take place on Saturday 18 April at 4 p.m. with artist, teacher and inspirer Irma Braat. Welcome!

The Wackers Academy alumni class of 2025 are joining Figs for this exhibition. With work by Debby Witteveen, Susanne Buining, Vivien Collingwood, Yvonne Budde, Mieke Versteegh, Krista Wamsteker, and others.

Behind the bookcase has won the Gallery Mokum Award 2025 and will be on view until August 2, 2025, in Gallery Mokum’s Summer Group Show.

The Mokum Award, now in its second year, is a joint initiative of the Wackers Academy and Gallery Mokum.
The award brings emerging talent to the attention of the public and supports it by offering artists a platform within a professional gallery.

17 jul 2025 | Route C in Baarn and at Slot Zeist

RTV Utrecht visited my studio in Baarn with their art TV programme Route C. And I painted this visit live.

In the living room, I showed them the bookcase, the work I painted there and my sources of inspiration. Afterwards, we visited Zeist Castle, where my portrait is on view in the exhibition of the Dutch Portrait Award.

Graduated! Together with my fellow graduates Debby Witteveen, Susanne Buining, Vivien Collingwood, Yvonne Budde and Mieke Versteegh, we worked intensively throughout the year. And these five drawing and painting giants, abstract figurative artists, neo-symbolists and activists have all graduated too.

At the end of May, our work was assessed by the examination board. The feedback, questions and answers from Manja van der Storm ( drawing artist, Tekenkabinet), Paul Smulders (painter), Sandra Kruisbrink (teacher) and Lennaart Allan (teacher) push us out of the academy and into the world.

The final event will take place during the first weekend of July: the Exam Exhibition at the Wackers Academie in Amsterdam.

Every three months, the KEEKollektief opens a new exhibition in their lunchroom on Twijnstraat. From 4 October 2024 till 9 January 2025, Krista’s solo exhibition, het Utrechte huis (the Utrecht house), will be on show.

The Nieuwegracht-series will be exhibited alongside the four-part series In het rijke huis (In the Rich House), still lifes and new work.

In Krista Wamsteker’s world, different painting techniques and subjects can coexist perfectly, resulting in diverse work, with her personal story and approach as a constant factor.

The house in Utrecht is not cleaned; the cleaning cloths must be painted using a more classic technique. Yellow chairs and vases wander around and are captured “alla prima” with a limited palette.

Outside on the Nieuwegracht, you can see a white table, the dog toilet and Debby.

Krista draws and paints from observation and memory, using clear forms, meticulous compositions and an idiosyncratic use of colour.

She looks forward to seeing you on Friday 4 October!

The work of 30 artists and designers is on show and for sale in their own studios. There is coffee, homemade cake and the corridors and hallways will be filled with pop-up music performances. On the second floor, there is an Affordable Art Wall for those who want to start a collection or expand their existing one.

The work of Magda Zimmerman, Sophie Järvinen Postma and myself are on view in Magda’s beautiful studio.
